2008 BLUE WAVE BEACHES TO BE ANNOUNCED!

The Clean Beaches Council is compiling its annual list of beaches which have been officially certified as clean, healthy and environmentally well managed.  Blue Wave Beaches are held to high standards of water quality, habitat conservation, and erosion management.  The goal of the Blue Wave Program is to promote public awareness and voluntary participation in beach sustainability.

CELEBRATE CLEAN BEACHES WEEK! (July 1-7, 2008)
Attend an event near you, or plan one for your area

National Clean Beaches Week is an annual celebration focusing on the role of sustainable beaches in American life.  We seek to highlight four themes during the week: a healthy environment, sustainable travel, clean recreation and fitness, and healthy food choices.

Last year, the week made quite a splash, and we'd like to make sure this year's celebration is even bigger.  You can help by:

• Taking the Clean Beaches Pledge, or
• Attending a Clean Beaches Week Event near you.  If there aren't any, consider
• Planning an event at a beach near you: you can start right away with our event planning guide (pdf).  Don't forget to keep in touch--let us know when your event is, so we can send beachgoers your way, and send along a follow-up form to tell us how it went and how we can help in planning future events.
