2007 National Clean Beaches Week
The Clean Beaches Council is proud to announce that over 100 coastal governors, mayors, and county commissions issued proclamations and letters in support of National Clean Beaches Week 2007. The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives each passed, by unanimous consent, resolutions supporting Clean Beaches Week. National Clean Beaches Week (NCBW), which was held on June 29-July 5, 2007, is a national celebration focusing public attention on the role of sustainable beaches in American life. Four themes of importance to beachgoers are highlighted during the week: a healthy environment, sustainable travel, clean recreation and fitness, and healthy food choices. Clean Beaches Week 2007 National Event in Huntington, NY

Town of Huntington Councilman Stuart P. Besen and Northport Village Trustee Thomas Kehoe welcomed CBC president Walter McLeod for a Clean Beaches Week Event at several Huntington beaches. Participants celebrated the beauty of the coasts and participated in beach clean-ups.

Keep Onslow Beautiful Earth & Surf Fest in Jacksonville, NC
Keep Onslow Beautiful and the Good Sessions Surf Shop teamed up to host the Earth & Surf Fest, an environmental event and surfing competition at North Topsail Beach. Booths offered information on recycling, litter prevention, and stormwater pollution prevention, as well as a vermiculture demonstration. Volunteers collected an astonishing 600 pounds of recyclable materials and 35 bags of trash from a single five-mile stretch of beach!
Clean Beaches Week Celebration in Milwaukee, WI
Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful and the Milwaukee County Parks held a huge beach clean-up at three beaches on July 4th and 5th. Volunteers cleaned over 10 miles of beach and park land, and collected 15 tons of trash! Check out local news footage of the volunteer effort here and here.
2006 National Clean Beaches Week
National Clean Beaches Week 2006 was truly a success. The week was celebrated with close to 50 events in communities across the country. Over 70 governors and mayors issued Proclamations in support of the week. Furthermore, 75 Senators and Congressmen signed on to cosponsor Resolutions in the Senate and House to institutionalize the week as a standing national celebration.
